of Experience:
Loss Prevention Concepts,
Ltd. has conducted security surveys around the world in environments
ranging from large Insurance Companies and Corporate Headquarters
located in North American metropolitan areas to mid-sized
manufacturing plants in Latin America and smaller facilities in
Europe. Building types have ranged from high rise facilities
to small single story warehousing structures and break bulk trucking
terminals.
Type of Security Survey
Experience:
We have conducted all levels
of security surveys from limited "walk through" surveys of
apartment complexes located in low risk neighborhoods to corporate
headquarters with the need to protect high profile executives,
critical proprietary information and expensive assets, such as art
treasures, as well as research facilities involving cooperative
government agencies of different countries. However, our most
frequent projects of this type have been physical security surveys
of mid sized manufacturing and warehousing facilities employing
between 500 and 1,500 employees in medium risk environments.
In these cases, cost effectiveness and return on investment
are greater considerations than an unnecessary high level of
protection.
What is a Security Survey or
Risk Analysis?:
Every security survey we
conduct is significantly different as to the risks being considered,
the level of protection desired and budgetary restraints that will
apply. However, simply stated,
the purpose of all Loss Prevention Concepts, Ltd. security surveys
is to identify the risk present at the facility and make
recommendations for the reasonable reduction of this exposure in as
cost effective a manner as possible.
Prior to commencing work on a security survey, we establish any
restrictions the client might have relating to upgrading. For
instance, we realize that if a client can only budget $20,000 in
hardware upgrades, we would be providing no benefit if we
recommended $100,000 in upgraded countermeasures. In other
situations, clients have had no restrictions on long term equipment
upgrading, but have provided limitations concerning increased
security personnel. In one case, one of the client's
subsidiaries manufactured a micro processing card access system and
we were restricted to employing this system rather than
competitors' products which may have been better suited for that
particular environment.
Return on Investment:
Security surveys generally
provide an excellent return on investment. While security
surveys do not result in the immediate dramatic effect that
accompanies a criminal apprehension, often measurable results are
visible almost immediately. Although the detection and
apprehension of members of a theft ring can be gratifying, it is
much more cost effective to prevent, or minimize, the opportunity
for theft in the first place. Of all the services we provide,
we believe security surveys provide the greatest return on
investment for our clients.
Minimizing Exposure to
Litigation with Security Surveys:
The primary purpose of a
security survey is to minimize exposure of all types. While
the safety of employees and visitors and the protection of assets
are usually the paramount priorities of these surveys, the greatest
benefit achieved by clients in the U.S. today is probably limiting
exposure to premises liability litigation. Even the damage a
business suffers due to the presence of a major theft ring, a
saboteur or even a natural |
