Venue of Experience:
Our experience in designing all inclusive corporate security programs has been limited to North America.  Additionally, we have developed specific components of security programs, and stand alone security-related programs abroad.
Methodology:
Our efforts in this area have been extremely varied depending on client desires, company size, the type of industry, risks in the industry, number of branch locations and many other factors.  In some cases, an existing program has just required upgrading, but in other cases we have started from scratch.
Types of Corporate Program Services:
In addition to general corporate security consulting where we have simply provided input, there are two basic types of programs we have developed for clients: stand alone programs to control a specific risk, and complete corporate security programs.
Stand Alone Programs:
Examples of this first type of service would include contingency planning for crisis events, security programs for a new venture or new risk and similar projects.  For example, one large manufacturing client began a program where rather than scrapping substandard products, these products were sold for export to specific countries for a different use than intended.  The primary concern here was the exposure which would result if these products were used in the country of origin for the purpose intended for the first quality products.  If that occurred, the public would be placed at risk and the company would likely become targeted by lawsuits resulting from injuries caused by the substandard products.  In this case, our mission was not just to develop control over the flow of the products, but to insure that security at the client's customers' facilities was adequate.  This was necessary since a theft of the products from an insecure storage facility would result in the products ending up with a segment of the mainstream market providing a hazard to the public.  In addition to the initial program development here, we provided ongoing monitoring, visiting and inspecting the customer's facilities without notice.  In another case, we developed security procedures to be used only in the retail stores operated by a manufacturer.
Complete Corporate Security Programs:
There have been cases where our participation would be more akin to consulting, then program developing.  These have been situations where our role involved reviewing and updating existing policies.  In other cases, however, we have undertaken projects to construct a company wide security program from the ground up.  One example of this involved a large common carrier with over a hundred terminals throughout the U.S.  Our first step was to learn and understand the company philosophy, reporting structure, and the risks inherent in the business.  This was followed by extensive interviews with management, line supervision and workers at representative terminals where limited physical security surveys were also conducted.  The smallest terminal visited had only twelve bays, while one of the larger ones had well over a hundred.  Some terminals had special risks involving high-risk freight, higher-than-normal environmental exposure, off-premises equipment storage and other individual areas of concern.
