EMPLOYMENT: U.S. POSTAL SERVICE JOBS SCAMS

Ads that promise jobs with the U.S. Postal Service through independent businesses or offer material (for a fee) on how to secure such positions are usually always frauds, or at the least deceptive marketing scams..

In 1991, the Postal Service began to significantly reduce the number of employees in its workforce nationally. In 1992, a reorganization of the Postal Service eliminated tens of thousands of additional positions.

In some cases, what these con men are selling is expensive training to help applicants pass the pre-employment exams.  In others, the victim may be told he or she will be placed on a special list which the Postal service uses to draw it's applicants.

Any information relating to Postal Service jobs these con man may provide for a fee is available free of charge from the Postal Service.  The local Postmaster is always the best source of information on careers with the Postal service and can provide application forms.
