EMPLOYMENT: PHONY JOB OPPORTUNITY SCAMS

There are many of these scams constantly being advertised.  Basically they misrepresent the wage scales and opportunities and make claims that positions are available when they are, in fact, unavailable.

In all cases, the intended victim must pay a fee to receive detailed information about these alleged job opportunities.

Typically these ads claim:

  • "Guaranteed" placement in a job
  • No experience or special skills are necessary to qualify,
  • Offer too-good-to-be-true wages and/or tax-free earnings
  • Offer overseas employment
Some of these con artists are promoting a job training schemes such as truck driving, oil rigging, or heavy equipment operating to fill an alleged "critical" shortage and alleges to guarantee the course graduate of a job at the business providing the training.  These courses are often substandard, overpriced and uncertified and no placement service is provided.

In other cases, these fraudsters simply are selling lists of companies they claim have high priced openings and these are often said to be overseas.
