I feel a security provider which offers armed service in retail environments is so deficient in its management that I would recommend against considering such a contractor for any other project.
The absolute worst of the security companies have been known to provide "replica" firearms to security officers. This is probably the single most irresponsible act a contract service can engage in. In these cases, the officers are placed in exceptionally vulnerable positions. In effect, they become unnecessary targets for assailants who perceive them to be deadly threats. This perception, of course, is incorrect and these officers have no means to protect themselves. This atrocious practice is rare, and most often occurs in retail environments providing an unrecognized hazard to shoppers.
Not only should clients refuse to accept bids from security services which issue replica firearms to officers, they should also consider avoiding any retail establishment which contracts for such an inappropriate and dangerous service and the increased risk created for its customers.
