of Experience:
Our experience in the
development of executive protection programs has focused on
executives and celebrities in the United States and Latin
America. We also have limited experience in high risk
protection program development and hands-on protection per se in the
U. S., Europe and the Mediterranean. We understand the need to
make recommendations that are appropriate for the geographical and
political environment as well as the individual. We realize,
for instance, that countermeasures applicable in Montreal, might
have little practical value in Caracas.
Type of Experience:
Our in house experience is
limited only in regard to exceptionally high risk targets and we
acknowledge our limitations in these situations. Therefore,
when developing programs for high profile clients, we additionally
utilize the services and knowledge of independent associates who
have this specialized expertise. Our typical executive
protection program, however, is developed for the medium risk
domestic client.
Objectives of Our Programs:
Programs are developed to
significantly improve the chances the client will react properly to
survive an unanticipated risk event, while minimizing the
unacceptable inconvenience created by programs geared for
exceptionally high levels of security. As a part of these programs
we develop contingency planning so that should the risk increase,
appropriate countermeasure procedures can be activated and
specialized equipment will be available to rapidly upgrade security
to the higher level warranted by the temporary increase in exposure.
The Exposure:
Often our domestic clients'
greatest exposure is not the obscure threat of terrorism, but the
more realistic risk posed by disgruntled employees, frustrated
claimants, irrational litigants and misguided radicals driven by a
variety of causes. Violent labor disputes, too, can create a
unique temporary situation of increased exposure. Frequently,
our executive clients would not be considered high risk individuals
during normal times. Our programs for these executives are focused
on insuring their ability to react swiftly to upgrade their level of
security in response to increased risk. In other environments,
risks can range from routine health and safety hazards to terrorist
or criminal activity requiring a significantly modified lifestyle
and exceptional countermeasures.
Need for Contingency Planning:
Many highly placed executives
may feel they would be considered paranoid by contracting for
executive protection program development. Others may feel it
would be a misuse or even a waste of company funds. When other
types of business crisis events arise, executives--and the
company--will likely survive the delays caused by voice mail,
committee meetings, study groups, action leader selection and other
time consuming obstructions normal in today's cautious business
environment. However, if an executive (or an executive's family
member) is suddenly abducted, such delays can result in
disaster. In these cases, the decisions should already have
been made and the response of the crisis committee should be to
simply activate the detailed contingency plan. For instance,
if the company pays a ransom demand, stockholders may file suit.
