COPY MACHINES: COPY MACHINE & PRINTER SUPPLY SCAMS

Like similar scams, the businesses targeted here receive a call from a high-pressure telemarketer who offers copy machine or printer supplies for sale at allegedly significantly discounted prices.

In some cases, the telemarketer may even have the brand names, serial numbers or other identification of the copy machine(s) or printer(s) obtained from a pretext contact with another company employee made earlier.  Additionally, such fraudsters may claim or imply the purchase was earlier approved by another company employee.

There are many varieties to this scheme, but usually the business never receives products paid for--or the products received are of low quality or exceptionally overpriced.

Businesses are warned to be skeptical of any unsolicited deals whatsoever that are touted by telemarketers from unknown companies, particularly if the caller becomes evasive when asked about the location and other deals of his or her business.  Additionally,
Loss prevention Concepts, Ltd. recommends that advance fees never be paid.
