The prestigious [British] Institute of Professional Investigators is unlike most investigative organizations in that it's membership is comprised of career investigators from both the public and private sectors.

While the bulk of the members are English and Scots, a lesser number are based throughout Europe and there are a few members in North America.

Investigative training is offered by the I.P.I. at meetings and AGMs.  Certification is obtained by thesis and there are two levels, "Member" and "Fellow".
