ORIGINATING FRAUD LETTER E-MAIL ADDRESSES

E-MAIL ADDRESSES USED BY NIGERIAN FRAUDSTERS:
We expected a significant increase in Nigerian Fraud Letter E-mail correspondence, but did not anticipate the huge volume.  For a time, we did attempt to post e-mail addresses of these fraudsters which were submitted by site visitors, but we soon found that we were receiving 50 - 100 new e-mail address a month and that they became obsolete almost immediately and were of little value.

Most of the fraudsters' e-mail addresses were provided by free e-mail services such as yahoo.com and hotmail.com   We also found fraudster e-mail addresses from africaonline.com.ci, eudoramail.com,  careerbuildermail.com, doctor.com and many others.

NIGERIAN FRAUDSTERS' PHONE & TELEFAX NUMBERS:

Here, too, we found a huge volume of phone and fax numbers coming in, which were often changed within days and therefore, of little value.  However, it should be noted that the country code for Nigeria is 234, the country code for Gabon is 241, and the country code for Cote D'Ivoire is 225.  Ivory Coast cellular numbers can be identified by the prefix 07.

POINTS OF ORIGIN

In addition to Nigeria, these scams have been initiated in the Ivory Coast (Cote D'Ivoire), Sierra Leone, Ghana the Republic of Benin and the Republic du Togo.  Additionally, there have been cases where the origin was traced to the United States where a fraudster was posing as a Nigerian.
